MDTP has developed and field-tested a suite of written response items (WRI) intended to help students think and communicate effectively about the mathematics found in the secondary math sequence. Most of the items are correlated with the topics assessed in the multiple choice tests. These items allow teachers to learn more about student understanding and determine next steps in instruction. They are a useful vehicle for supporting students in self and peer assessment. MDTP encourages you to consider the written response items to strengthen your student’s understanding of mathematics.
